Information on Leicestershire

Three people who may have vital information relating to the murder of 16-year-old Leicester boy Bradley Whitfield have been traced thanks to a police media appeal.

Bradley Whitfield's body was discovered on Fosse Road South on New Year's Day 2008. He died as a result of a puncture wound to the neck.

Four people, a 15-year-old boy, and 15-year-old girl, a 31-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man; have since been charged with his murder.

As part of ongoing investigations into the murder, detectives released CCTV footage to the media on Friday May 16.

The footage showed two men and a woman who were captured on CCTV outside the Accident and Emergency Department of the Leicester Royal Infirmary at around 6.15am on New Years Day.

The three people were talking with one of the people who was later arrested and charged in connection with Bradley's murder and officers had been keen to identify and trace them.

The three people have now been identified and traced.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Smith, who is leading the investigation, said: "I'd like to thank everyone who came forward as a result of the appeal and the media for their help in showing the footage.

"Officers are speaking with the individuals concerned and will be following up any new lines of enquiry resulting from those conversations."

The investigation into Bradley's death continues.
