Three people racially abused and assaulted on Saxby Street

Police are appealing for witnesses after three people were racially abused and assaultedon Saxby Street.

The incident happenedat around 8pm on Saturday April 26, 2008 when the victims were walking through Victoria Park towards the city and were racially abused by three youths.

As they continued to walk along London Road and onto nearby Saxby Street, they were approached by the youths who assaulted them.

After the incident, they ran off towards Sparkenhoe Street. The victims received minor injuries which did not require medical treatment.

The suspects have been described as being of Asian appearance, between 5'8" and 5'10" tall and were wearing hooded tops. One of them was also wearing dark jeans, trainers and a red and white baseball cap.

PC Tom Williamson, who is investigating the incident, said "It's very important that we build a complete picture of events which is why we're appealing for witnesses.

"Perhaps you witnessed the victims being abused or witnessed the assault? Or maybe you know the identity of the people responsible?

"If so we need to speak with you. Any piece of information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, may help us with our enquiries."
