Vrudha Nivas Residents give warm welcome to Nicky and Ron

Nicky Morgan, prospective Conservative MP for Loughborough, and Charnwood Councillor, Ron Jukes, met residents at Vrudha Nivas in Rendell Street last week.  Operated by East Midlands Housing, Vrudha Nivas offers sheltered housing and accommodation for elderly Indian residents.

As well as learning a few words of Gujurati Nicky and Ron discussed with the residents a number of issues, such as day care services at the Shree Ram Centre, policing and safety, meal delivery services and possible activities and outings for those living at Vrudha Nivas.

Speaking after the meeting Nicky said, "We really enjoyed our visit and the opportunity to try to help the residents with issues of concern to them.  Despite the language barrier we had a good discussion and were made to feel very welcome.  There are a number of areas where Ron and I will be doing our best to help."
