Local Conservative Prospective MP, Nicky Morgan, has again been voicing her concerns over the proposed move of Loughborough's NHS Walk-in Centre. The local NHS Primary Care Trust, which operates the Centre, have been in consultation over plans to move the facility from its current site on Pinfoldgate, to Loughborough Hospital, situated on Epinal Way.
Many local residents have questioned the move, praising the current site as ideal due to its ease of access if the centre is needed in an emergency. In the centre of town with a large car park and bus stops very close by, the facility has been readily accessible not only to car owners but also to those residents reliant on public transport.
Nicky, who owns a house just a few short metres from the current site, has decided to organise a walk along with Borough Councillor Pauline Ranson, from the current site, to Loughborough hospital, to highlight the concerns that both she, and many other local residents have over the possible move. The walk will culminate with Nicky and Pauline meeting local representatives of the PCT to discuss those concerns.
Speaking on her decision to organise the walk Nicky said "My main concern with this move is the lack of accessibility to the new site for anyone who does not own a car. I am also interested to know how the PCT believes the move will work to the advantage of walk-in centre patients and what the implications are for the staff. Any move should only happen if it will really benefit the people of Loughborough. I welcome the willingness of the PCT to meet with us and hope we can discuss matters fully and that they take our views on board.
The walk will take place on Sunday 17th August at 2.30pm and will start close to the walk-in centre. The group will then walk the 1.4miles to the proposed Epinal Way site at Loughborough Hospital. Nicky and Pauline are asking anybody who is shares their concerns about the plans to join them on the walk. For more information and to let them know that you will be joining them Nicky and Pauline ask that you let them know if you are intending to come along by e-mailing listening@loughboroughconservatives.com or calling 01509 415852.
