Staff from RNIB College Loughborough at e-fair
Posted on 23/06/08

Education leaders from around the region will tomorrow be gathering in Leicester to find out about the latest technological advances and how they can improve the experience of learners in their organisations.
This year the JISC Regional Support Centre (RSC), which is based at Loughborough College, is hosting its annual e-fair at the Walkers Stadium in Leicester on Tuesday 24th June.
Sir David Melville CBE will open the day with a keynote presentation on the challenges that e-learning presents to the education sector in the region.
Sir David will share the learning so far from the Governments Committee of Inquiry into the Changing Learner Experience, of which he is Chair.
In the afternoon it will be the turn of Steve Moss, Strategic Director (ICT) at Partnerships for Schools (PfS), who will shed light on the challenge of designing a curriculum which is fit for purpose in the 21st century.
Building on the experience of schools and local authorities involved in the early phases of the Building Schools for the Future programme, this keynote will explore ways in which new buildings and new ICT solutions can support learning that engages young minds and encourages the development of skills essential for success in the 21st century.
Throughout the day visitors will also get the chance to experience a wide range of workshops, mini presentations and demonstrations to find out whats happening in the region and beyond.
The event is free to all delegates in Learning Providers that the Regional Support Centre (RSC) supports and the content of the e-fair is relevant to a wide range of roles including teaching and learning, management, staff development, technical IT and business support.
Staff from RNIB College Loughborough will be presenting on the way in which the RNIB offer support to partners in a young persons journey through education and transition to Employment. This will take place from 11:00 11:20.
