Loughborough has been confirmed as the best university in the UK for sport in the latest instalment of The Complete University Guide, published today (12 June) in The Independent newspaper.

The Sport and Recreation table is based on BUSA (British University Sports Association) rankings, and also rates other factors such as sports facility provision.

Chris Earle, Loughborough’s director of sport, says the University’s commitment to inclusive sport is key to its success. “We give each student who comes here a positive experience, whether it’s an Olympic hopeful or someone who wants to kick a football about,” he said.

“We have 53 sports clubs you can join, and in each of those you can go for gold or just have fun.”

Loughborough has made a unique contribution to the world of sport for over sixty years. It has perhaps the best, integrated sports development environment in the world, and is home to some of the country’s leading coaches, sports scientists and support staff.
