Information on Leicestershire

crime scene

Volunteers are being sought to take part in a new study at the University of Leicester which will have important implications for forensic research.

Participants are required to spend just 30 minutes undertaking memory tasks and questionnaires which will help to shed new light on the relationship between personality, the experience of life adversity, and eye-witness memory.

Kim Drake, who is leading the study in the School of Psychology, said: "This is a collaborative study  that seeks to further and deepen our understanding of the link between life adversity and memory accuracy and consistency. It builds upon two past research studies, currently "in press" within internationally established forensic psychology journals, and   as such, the research could have significant implications for both the police and the Courts.

"The procedure is straight-forward, and only takes approximately 30 minutes; all it involves is the completion of a couple of memory tasks and a few questionnaires (assessing personality variables).

"We're looking for as many volunteers as possible who'd be able to spare some time be a part of some important forensic research; participants can be any age, male and female - the only restriction is that  they must be fluent in English."

In accordance with the British Psychological Society, all data will be anonymous and participants have the right to withdraw at any time.

The study can be carried at the University of Leicester's School of Psychology or at any other appropriate location.

If you would be interested in taking part, or would like any further information, please contact KIM DRAKE; email: ked6@le.ac.uk, tel: 0116 229 7154.
