man handcuffedPolice are trying to trace a witness after a man indecently exposed himself in the city. Indecent exposure is the deliberate exposure by a person of a portion or portions of his or her own body under circumstances where such an exposure is likely to be deemed an offense against prevalent standards of decency.In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, Indecent exposure is defined as someone, male or female, exposing their genitals intending another person to see them and to be caused alarm or distress (covered by the Sexual Offences Act 2003).

The incident happened at around 3.15pm on Thursday March 20, 2008 when a man noticed a black Fiat Panda parked the on Peacock Lane near to the cathedral and the driver was indecently exposing himself.

As the man was attempting to take down the cars registration number, an Asian man walked up to the car and spoke to the driver before he drove off towards St Nicolas Circle.

Officers are appealing for this man to come forward as he could provide vital information to this investigation.

PC Carly Pritchard, who is investigating this incident, said: "We are very keen for this man to come forward and speak to us. There is a possibility he got a good look at the offenders face and would be able to assist with our enquiries.

"If anyone can recall seeing a man in a car matching this description in the area or know the person responsible, please get in touch."
