Posted on 04/04/08

As part of Leicestershire Libraries plans to improve library services, East Goscote Library will close for refurbishment from Monday the 21 April for approximately 9 weeks.
Leicestershire Libraries will be providing a reduced service to the village from a mobile library, and books borrowed between the 31 March and the 21 April will be on extended loan until the library reopens.
Customers with a PIN number wanting to renew items can call 0845 602 2815 or go online at www.leics.gov.uk/libraries 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, those without a pin number should call Syston Library on 0116 3053500.
Please remember that library cards can be used at any other Leicestershire County Council library. The nearest library providing a full range of services is Syston Library, Upper Church Street, Syston, LE7 1HR. Tel: 0116 3053500.
Improvements will include a new cabin, new layout and a redecorated library.
For further details contact Syston Library. Tel 0116 3053500, email systonlibrary@leics.gov.uk
Background notes
Libraries across Leicestershire have started to see the benefits of the 5 million transformation programme and other initiatives recently introduced as they buck the national trend and see book issues increasing. Latest improvements include:
Fifty libraries across Leicestershire open all day Saturday, with Loughborough library piloting Sunday opening.
A big increase in new stock with a huge boost in best seller titles shedding the myth that the books libraries have are dusty and out of date.
Popular events and activities including wriggly readers (rhyme and story time for 0-4 year olds), internet taster sessions and family learning activities.
Online developments including improved renewal services, catalogue search facilities and 24-7 access to a librarian.
