Wicked Hathern Brewery was launched in the first month of the millennium. A two-barrel microbrewery, it is owned and operated by John Bagley, his son Marc, John Worsfold and his son-in-law Sean O'Neill.
During our first few years, we have established ourselves locally as a guest beer and bottle our whole range for sale in the local shop and other outlets. We have appeared at many CAMRA and other Beer Festivals including the Great British Beer Festival in London and have brewed specials for the Derby Beer Festival
The name is inspired by comments made by a 19th century clergyman, the Revd Edward Thomas March Philips, Rector of Hathern from 1808 for 51 years. Fed up with the cock fighting and drunken brawls in the graveyard, he referred to Hathern as “a barbaric place and a cage for every unclean beast”. The village has been known locally as Wicked Hathern ever since.
All beers can be bought in bottles, subject to availability, from Hathern Stores, Cross Street, Hathern and other outlets. See Bottled Beers.
Brewery visits (parties of up to 12 people) available by prior arrangement. For details and costs please email us at Beer@Hathern.com It is possible to arrange for a meal to be taken at the Albion Inn, Canal Bank, Loughborough, following the visit and dependant on time of day. The Albion serves our "Albion Special" brewed exclusively for them and only available from there.
