What Sure Start is here to do

Sure Start is a government programme which aims to achieve better outcomes for children, parents and communities by:

• increasing the availability of childcare for all children
• improving health and emotional development for young children
• supporting parents as parents and in their aspirations towards employment.

How do they achieve their aims?

• helping services development in disadvantaged areas alongside financial help for parents to afford childcare
• rolling out the principles driving the Sure Start approach to all services for children and parents.

Water Babies

Wednesdays

Mini Movers 0 - 5yr olds. Activity session based on physical activities of all types. Contact Peter or Rachael on 01509 634836. Includes TUMMY TIME. 10:00 - 11:45am.

Young Parent's Group

1 pm - 4pm. An informal group offering advise and information to young mums.

Thursdays

Stay and Play. Stay and play with the toy library. 50p per session 10:00 - 11:30am. Contact Sally on 01509 264876.

Tuning-in with stay and play ;led by a music teacher.

Fridays

Striders. Meeting at Shelthorpe Children's Centre. Pushchair friendly walks with free mini bus, 10am - 2pm. Phone 01509 230629

Free Phone. This is a free hot line direct to benefit agencies. Available 8am - 6pm Mon-Fri.

Library Service. Free lending library with lots of children's booksto choose from.

Pregnancy Testing and Condom Service. Free confidential pregnancy testing and condoms. Available 8:00am till 5:45pm Monday to Friday.
