| A carillon is a keyboard percussion instrument composed of a range of bells controlled by a keyboard. Carillons are normally housed in towers and are among the largest musical instruments in the world. Loughborough Grand Carillon in Queens Park has 47 bells and was built as a War Memorial to the memory of the 480 men of the town who died in the Great War.
At the base of the Carillon are bronze tablets commemorateing the fallen from multiple wars. Recitals are held every Thursday at 1pm and Sunday at 3:30pm throughout the summer months. Photographs inside and from the Carillon are available on Loughborough Carillon |
