How to Stop My Dog From Barking at People on My Street
How to Stop My Dog From Barking at People on My Street

Dogs are our pets, companions, and protectors. For some of us the protector part can be a little over the top if they decide to bark at people that are walking down the street on the other side of our home. I know that my Labrador Retriever used to do just this which I kind of liked, but at the same time got annoying because he would continue to bark even after the people had wondered all the way down the street. Here is how I managed to get my dog to stop his barking at people that were walking down the street.
The method that I found that works out best in getting him to stop this behavior is that I would take and show him after the person had left that he was making his voice heard at nothing at all. Then if he would continue to bark I would tell him to be quiet. However, if I wanted to stop his noise making while the person was still on the road I would tell him that they are outside of his yard and that he doesn't need to worry about them until they cross into his yard or territory. Then when he realizes that the road is not his to protect he normally quiets down right away.
So if your dog has a bad habit of barking at people on the street you will want to try this method out. I know that this is the best way that I have found to get my dog to stop this behavior and it worked out rather well and he now only barks at people that cross into the yard.

Tip For Learning How to Stop Dog Barking
Tip For Learning How to Stop Dog Barking
By Jimmy Fisher
Learning how to stop dog from barking can be one of the hardest things that a dog owner can do. I know that for me learning how to control my dog was one of the hardest things that I ever did. However, while I was working hard on this project of getting my dog to be quiet when I wanted him to be I did find a great tip that I thought I would share the great tip that I found.
The great tip that I found to help me learn how to stop dog from barking was to teach them the word quiet. I know that it might sound kind of odd to be teaching your dog a simple word can help take care of them barking, but I found it is much easier to give them commands rather than constantly holler and shout.
Giving them commands is actually easier on my voice as well! I know that if I had to shout and holler at them all the time I would not have a voice left, but after teaching them the meaning of the word quiet it worked out much better. While you might not realize that your dog will respond to commands once you get them trained they will respond to commands and typically without even thinking about them.
If you do not believe that teaching them a command is easy then look at the Hollywood dogs all that they do is follow commands. Which believe it or not is done with simple courses that take maybe fifteen minutes a day to completely train those dogs to respond to everything.
If you do not believe how easy it is to teach your dog how to stop barking you will want to visit how to stop dog from barking for even more great information, but if that doesn't convince you at how simple it is to find a dog barking cure you will find this site to be very helpful. I know that each of these sites helped me learn how to stop dog from barking without having all the issues that everyone else has had.

How to Stop Your Barking Dog
How to Stop Your Barking Dog
By Dave Curran
Dogs bark for various reasons such as fear or to scare away threats, to communicate, through boredom, and sometimes just because they are happy.
Generally speaking, it is not possible to stop your dog from barking altogether (surgery will work but is only used in extreme cases), and it would probably not be wise to try and do so. After all, most people would want their dog to warn them of intruders or other threats.
But sometimes there is nothing more annoying than a barking dog, and there are times when we need to reduce our dog's barking. To really have a chance of stopping your dog from barking you need to do two things:
1) Identify the thing that is causing your dog to bark, and2) Either remove that thing, or teach your dog to ignore it through behaviour modification.
So lets look at each of these things in more detail:
If your dog is barking while you are home, sneak out and see if you can identify what your dog is barking at. If your dog is scared of something, then you may be able to show your dog that the thing is not a threat, by introducing your dog to the perceived "threat". This may need to be a gradual introduction, and may need to be done over a period of time until your dog becomes comfortable with the "threat". If you are persistent you will stop your dog from barking over time.
If your dog is barking while you are absent, then it may be because your dog is bored. The best way to counter this is to reduce your dog's boredom by giving it things to do while you are out. There are a range of toys available which you can hide a treat in. Dogs love trying to remove the treat and this can keep them busy for hours. Another way to reduce boredom is to spend more time with your dog while you are home. Plenty of play time and exercise, particularly walking, will satisfy your dogs urge for stimulation and will probably also wear your dog out, making it more likely to sleep, rather than look for things to bark at during your absence.
The keys to stop your barking dog are identifying and removing the threat, or modifying your dog's behaviour so that it does not want to bark.
Work on these two things and your dog will bark less.
