Housebreak Your Puppy in Record Time

Housebreak Your Puppy in Record Time
By Cary Benjamin

The biggest complaint any dog owner has, particularly if they only have a small puppy, is that the puppy does their business on the floor in the house. They need to potty train their dog quick, and they just aren't sure how. Usually they've tried the newspaper, and tried to push their nose in the spot where they peed, but that hasn't been working at all. With the right tools and techniques, anyone can potty train their pup in record time.

Before you start even thinking about using newspaper and treats and other ways of coercing a good bathroom break, you need to be sure you have a good schedule down. This is probably the number one biggest hassle for new dog owners, however, it is absolutely the most important step to being successful at house breaking.

You need to be able to bring your dog outside every four hours, or as close to it as possible. If you think you're going to housebreak your dog in record time and still get eight hours of sleep, you may have to reevaluate your expectations of your puppy. You should be taking them out to go potty, whether they are showing signs of a need to go or not.

By consistently going to the same place every day and going in the same spot, your puppy will learn exactly what to expect when the next time they feel the need to go comes up. Of course, there are ways you can train your dog to control when the urge comes, so you're not waking up at 3AM every morning.

How to housebreak a puppy on your own by choosing a area outside where you would like your puppy to go potty. When you get to the potty spot in the yard, walk back and forth or in a circle to promote a habit to potty in this area. At the same time, say something that lets/instructs your puppy that you want them to go potty. (Example: Go Potty.) Just pick out a word or phrase that you like and stick with it. Potty Training Puppies Mistakes

Potty Training Puppies Mistakes
By Tony Anthony

If you bet me a million dollars that you could potty train your puppy in two days, I would probably walk away a rich man. While it is certainly possible to train a puppy in a few days, this is the exception to the rule and is not normal. Instead you should expect your puppy to make mistakes while learning to potty train. The more important question is how do owners deal with those mistakes.

Here are some ways to deal with the mistakes of potty training puppies:

Bring your puppy back to the scene of the crime: When your puppy has gone to the bathroom in an undesirable place, bring that puppy back to that place. The first thing to do is to show the puppy the puddle. Do not place his face in it of course, simply make sure your puppy is looking at what he has done. If he tries to look away or change the subject, be patient and do not leave that spot until he looks at the puddle. After he looks at it, make sure that you verbally tell the puppy in a firm voice the words you are not to go here. Then after you have cleaned up the mess with some newspaper bring the mess and the puppy to the spot you would have liked them to gone and tell them in a nice voice the words here is where you need to go.

Repeated presents that your puppy gives: If your puppy is constantly leaving you unwanted gifts, you can also bring him back to the spot he has soiled and make sure he stays there for about 4 minutes. The keys here are making sure that he has a chance to really think about what he has done. While it was not wrong to go to the bathroom, it was wrong for him to go to the bathroom there. You can get the puppy to stay there by tying his leash to something that he can't pull it away from.

If you find potty training puppies challenging, remember that with the proper training this problem can be easily overcome. Potty training puppies can be done with ease if you have the right training!
