How to Stop a Dog From Biting - The 5 Essential Steps You Need to Take

How to Stop a Dog From Biting - The 5 Essential Steps You Need to Take
By John B Hughes

This article has been written specifically to give help with how to stop a dog from biting. A dog that bites needs to be dealt with quickly before it really hurts someone and/or gets itself into real trouble since a biting dog runs a real risk of eventually being put down.

Here are the five key steps to stopping your dog biting; these can be used with puppies or older dogs.

Step 1: Catch the problem early. If it is a puppy that is biting this is normal but the behavior needs to be modified before it gets to be a habit. If it is an older dog then you definitely need to sort this problem out straight away otherwise the dog is on a sure path to eventually being put down, when he bites to hard or bites the wrong person. Whatever the case may be, dealing with the problem as soon as possible in your relationship with the dog is the best course of action.

Step 2: When th dog bites let out a high pitch "Yelp" or say "No" firmly and then turn away from him and refuse to play with him. This is very powerful because it mimics the behavior that the pack would use on it if it got out of line. Very soon, you should begin to notice a change in your dog's behavior.

Step 3: Repetition is the key. Keep doing step 2 until your dog really begins to understand, this should not take to long.

Step 4: Do not deviate from step 3. One of the only reasons training in this way could fail is if you start to deviate from the previous steps. Your dog sees things in black and white and if sometimes he is being told off and shunned for a particular behavior and other times he isn't, or worst still, the behavior is being encouraged. Then your dog will be confused and the bad behavior will probably continue.

Step 5: Make sure you train the rest of your family, not just your dog. It is crucial that everyone in the family knows what to do when your dog bites and that they all react in the same way; otherwise the training could be hampered by one rouge family member who still allows the dog to misbehave.

Please read the next paragraph carefully.

A dog that bites, usually has other obedience issues that need to be addressed also. If you are serious about helping your dog to be obedient and a happy cooperative member of the family then you need to make sure that it has some basic dog obedience training. Finding a Solution to Dog Barking

Finding a Solution to Dog Barking
By Jimmy Fisher

Solving your dog barking can be one huge mystery that a dog owner will not find until their dog gets older. I know that for some people it might be easy as taking their dog to a different area than where they normally go and get them used to new noises, but for others it could be even more complicated. For those who have the more complicated dogs I found this great tip that helps me out more than anything else.

The tip that I would have is not getting rid of your dog because of their barking which some of my friends have done in the past, but it would be to take your dog to some form of training to find out if it is a behavior issue that can be corrected. Now this might end up costing you some money, but it is worth it if it ends up solving your dogs barking problems.

However, you will also want to do some research on the breed of your dog because some breeds have a tendency to bark more often than others. I know that for me one of my dog breeds actually ends up barking all the time at anything that was until he got trained, but my other dog without even being trained will just sit their and stare at the one that does bark all the time like he is crazy!

While the dog breed can help you determine if it is normal for your dog to be barking you will also want to make sure that your dog doesn't need any training either which could be very beneficial for your dog.

If you do not believe how easy it is to find a solution to your dog barking you will want to read more information on dog barking solutions for even more great information, but if that doesn't convince you at how simple it is to find a dog barking cure you will find this site to be very helpful. I know that each of these sites helped me learn how to stop dog from barking without having all the issues that everyone else has had.
