Barking Stop - Dog Obedience Tips to Make the Barking Stop

Barking Stop - Dog Obedience Tips to Make the Barking Stop
By Howard Snyder

We all love our dogs very much, but sometimes the co habitation can get pretty rough, especially if your dog develops a habit of barking or howling constantly every night or for long periods of time. To make the barking stop, you need to understand a few things first.

1. Your dog needs to communicate and barking to a dog is as natural as speaking is to a human.

2. Dogs bark to let you know that something is going on: maybe the food or water bowl is empty. Maybe there's a stranger at the door

3. Dogs bark if they feel bored or lonely and also, some breed tend to bark more than others, so do your research before getting a dog.

What to Do Next?

First, you need to teach your dog that you are the pack leader. Dogs are social creatures and they must always have a pack leader. If they don't recognize you as such, they will assert themselves as the leader. That is just their nature.

Whenever you want to make the to barking stop, grab him by the collar and the muzzle. Do this in a non harmful, violent way. You are showing him that you are the leader and that excessive barking is not ok. Hold him until your dog stops trying to escape. Once he's been still for a few seconds, praise him and give him a food treat. Over time he or she will learn that being quiet gives him your attention.

Which brings us to the next point. Never show him attention when he barks. Ignore him. I know this sounds easier than it is, especially if the barking happens in the middle of the night, but if you yell at him, you will be reinforcing that he gets attention from you when he barks. Be patient and consistent in how you reinforce the behavior that you want him to have. Praise and give him a treat when he obeys and is quiet. Praise and give him a treat when barks for the right reasons.

How to Stop a Dog From Barking - Discover the Best Way to Make the Barking Stop For Good

How to Stop a Dog From Barking - Discover the Best Way to Make the Barking Stop For Good
By Howard Snyder

Dogs are a wonderful companion that will keep us company and give us unconditional love for many, many years. Some dogs, however, are natural barkers, while other get to be that way for several reasons which then makes us, the owners wonder how to stop a dog from barking.

Firstly, we need to understand that they bark because they want to communicate. That is the way they let us know that something is going on. This could be their way of telling us that their food bowl is empty, or that someone is outside or knocking at the door. Some other times, they bark because they are bored or lonely.

What Can You Do?

The first thing is for you to understand that you are the leader of the pack. The relationship with your dog is not about being equal. That is not their nature. They need a pack leader and if they don't see you as being the one, then it is their survival nature to assert themselves as the one.

This is the best approach on how to stop a dog from barking:

1. Don't give your dog any attention when they bark. Teach them that excessive barking equals not having your attention. Once they have stopped, praise him or her and reinforce being quiet. This can be done with a food treat or a toy to chew on.

2. Make sure that you take your dog out at least twice a day for a minimum of 30 minutes. Let him or her run and be active. Dogs need the outside world to socialize with other dogs and to run and jump and be dogs.

3. Never raise your voice or try to hit your dog to stop the barking. This will only raise the anxiety level, which will encourage more barking. Grab him by the collar and the muzzle and show him that you are the leader and that that behavior is not accepted. Once he has stopped trying to escape and is still, wait a couple of seconds and then let him or her go and give him praise and show them that barking equals punishment from the leader and quiet brings praise. Make sure that whenever you grab him like this, to do it in a non violent way, just assert yourself but without excessive force.

Follow this advice on how to stop a dog from barking and you will enjoy a long and happy relationship with your dog.

Dog Training Barking - 3 Easy Training Tips to Get Your Dog to Stop Barking

Dog Training Barking - 3 Easy Training Tips to Get Your Dog to Stop Barking
By Andres Snyder-Llorente

We all love our dogs. They give us unconditional love and they keep us company as well as provide us with hours and hours of entertainment. But sometimes, our little friends develop habits that need to be re trained in order to keep our sanity and peace with our neighbors. Following are a few dog training barking tips to help you teach your pet to stop on command.

1. Consistency is key. Always reward your pet with praises and treats when he or she does what you want them to, and ignore him or her whenever they do something that you do not approve, like barking for no reason.

2. You need to understand that barking is your dog's way of communicating with you and it is unreasonable to expect your pet to never make any noise. Maybe he is alerting you of a stranger near your house or that his food bowl is empty or that he needs to go outside.

But whenever he barks excessively or for no apparent reason, do not pay any attention to him. Don't raise your voice or punish him physically because this will show him that by barking he gets your attention and also it raises his anxiety levels which translates into more barking.

3. Show him that you are the pack leader. Dogs are naturally social and they follow a leader. If they don't see you as the leader, then it is in their nature to take the role of the leader. Next time he starts barking incessantly, grab him by the collar and the muzzle. Hold him tight but not violently. This will show him that you are the leader and that the incessant barking is not ok with you. Once he stops resisting and trying to escape, wait a couple of seconds and then give him a treat. You are showing him to obey you and that he gets rewarded by following your instructions.
